Goals of Sound Week in the Bouches-du-Rhône Department

The purpose of Sound Week is to stimulate medical, scientific, and societal research on sound and health through a week-long series of conferences, workshops, and artistic performances.

These events are structured around scientific lectures focused on the impact of sound on human health, aimed at the general public, researchers, and healthcare professionals, workshops held in educational and healthcare institutions to raise awareness of the dangers and benefits of sound on health and of careers in sound, and a special issue on sound in the transdisciplinary journal JIMIS or the integrative health journal HEGEL.

The goal is to foster discussions about the impact of sound in its entirety (noise, sounds, and music) on humans and their auditory and mental health, their quality of life, as well as its relationship with the visual (photography, cinema), and olfactory senses, and to deepen our understanding of the mechanisms of sound perception.

The week also features festive events, concerts, film screenings, debates, and experiential workshops.
